Common questions
-
Act right away. With an IRS bank levy, the bank usually holds the money for 21 days before it goes to the IRS. That's the window to work on a release, usually together with a payment plan or a hardship request. The sooner I see the letter, the more room there is to act.
-
Serious. It's the IRS's final notice before it levies, and it gives you 30 days to request a Collection Due Process hearing. That hearing is one of your strongest rights in collections. Don't let the date pass.
-
It's an IRS notice saying the IRS intends to levy, and it can include your state tax refund. It usually comes before the LT11 or Letter 1058. Taking care of it now is easier than after a levy hits.
-
Maybe. That's an Offer in Compromise, and the IRS decides based on your income, expenses and assets. A lot of people don't qualify. I'll look at your numbers on the free call and tell you honestly before you spend money on one.
-
Usually the fix starts with filing. Under IRS policy, enforcement normally covers no more than the last six years, though it depends on your facts. I pull your IRS records, see which years are missing and get them done in the right order. If there's any criminal angle, I'll refer you to a tax attorney.
-
Yes. I handle New York State tax warrants, income executions, levies and driver's license suspensions for tax debt, and New Jersey Certificates of Debt, levies and wage garnishments, often in the same case as the IRS side.

An Enrolled Agent is licensed by the IRS to represent taxpayers in collections, audits and appeals. For most collection cases, an Enrolled Agent can handle it. If your case is criminal, you'll need a tax attorney, and I'll tell you so.

No, and be careful with anyone who says they can. What I can promise is that I'll tell you the truth about your case, do the work properly and keep you in the loop.
